"At Walnut woodcraft, we celebrate the wide varieties and characteristics the of woods found in Western Pennsylvania. The wood used in projects is usually reclaimed or salvaged and is thus more sustainable than newly milled lumber. While some exotic hardwoods have beautiful colors and characteristic, like mahogany, these are generally old growth trees and not sustainable sourced. We will at times utilize exotic tree varieties in small quantities for inlays or accents, however, we will not use exotic hardwoods as the primary species to build a piece of furniture."
